about the session

Working with the Zink family was so much fun. They are an adventurous crew that loves sports, the beach, skiing, and just being together. Mom knew that they wanted an outdoor session, so we headed to a nearby park that I love. There are several background options, and the cutest little pergola was perfect for some cozy portraits of the whole family.

The fall leaves covered the ground, and the weather was perfect. I love outdoor sessions with kids where we can run and play and capture some real joy. In my sessions, I like to photograph plenty of candid moments as well as posed shots. It is so special to see the relationships between family members, especially sibling shots. Little Eva was so excited to hold her big brother’s hand for pictures of just the two of them. She is such a spirited girl; it was so fun to see her personality blossom on camera. I always like to encourage children to be themselves during our family sessions. In twenty years, the family will want to remember Eli’s serious smile, Eva’s big hugs, and baby Ethan’s toes. They won’t care as much about posed photos that don’t spark as many memories.

fast facts

Family Photos Boost Self-Esteem:

  • Surrounding children with pictures of them alongside loved ones, especially parents and siblings, visually reinforces their place in the family and fosters a sense of belonging and security. They see themselves as an important part of a larger whole, and this can contribute to a positive self-image.

  • Capturing happy and proud moments: Family photos often capture children at their best, laughing, playing, and having fun. These positive images serve as a reminder of their capabilities and strengths, boosting their confidence and self-worth.

  • Appreciation and validation: Seeing themselves captured in beautiful photos, especially those taken with care and attention, can make children feel valued and appreciated. This positive reinforcement can contribute to a more positive self-perception.

  • Understanding family history: Looking at photos of past generations can help children connect with their family history and heritage. They see themselves as part of a larger story, and this can give them a sense of identity and purpose.
